The sign says in catalan:
Multiply the damage you see in the pictures by hundreds of hectares (maybe I'm understating it by saying “hundreds”.)
90% of the logs you see cut are green, healthy trees that were cut down purely and exclusively to make money selling them as firewood.
And most people accept that this is done for the good of the forest or for fire prevention (would admitting the truth make them feel even worse about themselves?)
Another funny concept (especially among the rednecks here in Spain) is that it is considered “abandonment” to let nature take its course when that is exactly what they should do if they really wanted to preserve the forest and all the benefits listed on the sign.
